One of the booming businesses before COVID hit was the concept of lending your house, apartment or a room to like-minded strangers. This worked on mutual courtesy, kindness and respect. People lending their homes and apartments and rooms to others hoping to earn money and perhaps also to meet different people from all walks of life. Airbnb is such a company that is marginally cheaper than renting out hotels even a more economical travelling solution.
I love this concept and have been a faithful customer of Airbnb since it started in Sydney. I have travelled the world and stayed at different people’s homes or even more frequent their rooms. One thing that I loved was getting to know a local and getting to understanding the culture.
I naturally gravitate towards people and so having that human connection in a new place was always a catalyst for me to keep on going with Airbnb. Being an interior design lover (with no professional qualification) I love to see how other people decorate their homes and especially their living room and kitchen spaces (Yes, I love cooking).
In this post, we will look at what a medium star Airbnb homes look like around Australia and the distinctive differences and similarities they follow. What makes Surry Hills, Sydney differ from Hobart, Tasmania? There are many differences but many beautiful similarities.
1. SURRY HILLS, SYDNEY:
I find clean lines and white spaces with bright natural light enticing and attractive. Take this beautiful modern studio type apartment in Surry Hills, for example. Many sheer curtains are used in the day time to let bright light in and block out curtains can be shut at night, making this apartment look much more spacious. I especially love the tan leather lounge and the nude coloured textured carpet. Overall this space has a modern but homey feel to it.

2. ALEXANDRA HEADLAND, QUEENSLAND:
Continuing on the similarities of clean lines and sunny open spaces is a one-bedroom Airbnb property from Alexandra Headland, Queensland. This seaside facing apartment has a consistent tropical, beachside theme all around the house. Aqua, greens, turquoise, whites and greys are all colours that have been used throughout the living and bedroom. Floorboards and rustic furniture all make up a beautiful harmonious space. Long windows with shutters and expandable windows are what makes this space a natural marvel letting in fresh air and sunline.

3. FALMOUTH, TASMANIA:
Another jaw-dropping Airbnb listing is the ocean view villa in one of the saltwater sunrise’s luxurious spaces. This beautiful studio apartment takes up the airy beachfront looks from the Queensland property but has its own distinctive modern looks as well. Clean whites and greys are a prominent theme keeping it very chic and classy. Big windows to let the fresh air and light in are the focal point of this residence. The artwork in this residence is sparse as I feel there is no need for it with such wondrous views.

4. South Yarra, Victoria:
In this beautiful South Yarra Airbnb property pastels, whites, greys are all colours that are working in harmony with wooden furniture. There is beauty when I look at light wood and light-coloured accessories all working together—adding in an open plan living with full open doors to the back yard that’s an entertainer’s dream.

5. Margaret River, Western Australia:
Open Plan living with expandable full open doors are a trend that I hope never ends as it makes the living space look big and airy. When I think about Margaret River, I always think about greenery, cottages and wildlife. This cottage personifies my imagination. Overlooking greenery and wildlife, it sits on a prime area of the town. The living space opens up to the deck area where entertaining can carry on from the outdoors to indoors. With kangaroos in the backyard, the sliding screen doors play an essential and practical role in this villa. Floorboards, pastels, woods and greys all play pivotal roles in the aesthetics of this property.

6. Nightcliff, Northern Territory:
Imagining lush greenery is what I think when I think about the greater NT. Wooden villas, rainforest-like bush and wooden furniture are all part of this beautiful Airbnb house. Plenty of natural light also plays a significant role in the interior space. Having lush green indoor plants and pairing it with wicker chairs, wooden screens, large doors, and windows are what give this place a homey and tree house type of feel.

7. Normanville, South Australia:
This Airbnb place is breathtaking with its luck green views from its balcony. This place couldn’t be more spacious with almost all walls are wall-to-wall glass doors and windows. This place gets plenty of bright light and air so it can accommodate all types of guest. The ones that love to sit outdoors to sip tea under the sun or sit indoors with beautiful floorboards and rustic wooden furniture. Sitting back with a bite to eat and relaxing has never been easier.
